Chamber Hosts National Site Selectors, Showcasing Model for Collaboration, Long-Term Economic Growth
As part of its work to showcase Round Rock’s business ecosystem, leadership, and quality of life, the Round Rock Chamber hosted a Familiarization Tour for four prominent national site selectors from December 2-4. Guests met with dozens of partners—city officials, educators, industry executives, workforce leaders, and local employers—who together help shape Round Rock’s economic strategy.
Throughout the tour, site selectors remarked on how unusual and impressive it was to see so many institutions working in sync. They noted that the region’s “kindergarten-to-career” pipeline—spanning Round Rock ISD, Austin Community College, Texas State University, Texas State Technical College, and the numerous educational institutions in Round Rock—is one of the strongest and most coordinated they have seen. One guest remarked that it’s no coincidence global employers like Dell and Emerson choose communities with this level of alignment between K–12 schools, higher education, and industry.
Conversations with leaders in utilities, planning, development, and economic development highlighted how the city prepares for growth not just a few years out, but one to two decades into the future. Site selectors complimented Round Rock’s forward-thinking approach to infrastructure, zoning, and quality of life investments, calling it a major competitive advantage in an era of rapid innovation and shifting workforce needs.
The tour included visits with major employers such as Dell Technologies, KoMiCo, and Ametrine Inc., as well as engagements with Round Rock Express leadership and Chamber Momentum investors. These interactions showcased the depth of Round Rock’s business ecosystem and provided guests a sense of how companies—large and small—benefit from a community where collaboration is the norm. Several commented that the level of access, transparency, and willingness to problem-solve collectively is something they rarely see during market visits.
Above all, guests emphasized that Round Rock’s collaborative spirit sets it apart. They applauded the region’s ability to bring public, private, and education partners to the same table, aligning around shared goals for prosperity. One attendee described Round Rock’s approach as “the kind of coordinated ecosystem communities spend years trying to build.” Another said plainly, “I can’t say enough good things.”
The Chamber’s Familiarization Tour ultimately reinforced what local partners already know: Round Rock is not growing by accident. The city’s success is the direct result of committed leadership, strategic investment, and a community that shows up—and works together—to build a thriving future.
