ACC Breaks Ground on Round Rock Campus Expansion
On Friday, November 22nd, 2024, Austin Community College District (ACC) held a groundbreaking ceremony at its Round Rock campus to add new facilities to meet the growing demand of positions needed in construction technology, welding, automotive technology, HVAC, and advanced manufacturing.
The project will add two additional buildings to the ACC Round Rock campus:
- Building 5500: A 24,200 square-foot space will house programs in Advanced Manufacturing, HVAC, and a shell space for a future program.
- Building 4000: A 36,500 square-foot facility designed for the Automotive Technology program, featuring a dedicated space for the college’s partnership with Toyota’s T-Ten program and a potential future Battery Electric Vehicle space.
This project is the first project funded by the 2022 General Obligation Bond. While construction begins on the Phase 1 projects for the Round Rock campus, there will also be a future Phase 2 project in Round Rock focusing on expanding health science programs and other high-demand fields.
Round Rock has continued to experience economic growth thanks to our strong business environment and our education and workforce partners in the region. Thanks to major announcements and expansions from companies such as Samsung, the need for advanced manufacturing positions and those in the skilled trades has continued to grow. ACC’s Round Rock campus expansion will continue to address the needs of our community and help to fulfill our workforce pipeline.
