Workforce Resource Spotlight: Hiring Our Heroes
One of the most, if not the most, important aspects of a high-performing community is its ability to create and maintain a skilled workforce. In order to accomplish this, many organizations in Round Rock and Central Texas have helpful resources to fulfill your talent pipeline. Hiring Our Heroes, a program through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, provides resources and opportunities to employers looking for veterans and veterans’ family members looking to transition into the civilian workforce.
Hiring Our Heroes is a nonprofit, nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities. Hiring Our Heroes provides programs and events such as hiring events at military installations, fellowship programs, and continuing education and networking opportunities. Employers are able to participate at hiring events and can participate in fellowship programs such as the programs below:
Corporate Fellowship Program
The Corporate Fellowship Program is a 12-week program held three times a year in 16 locations around the country and potentially for employers located outside of existing program sites. The program connects transitioning service members to opportunities for hands on corporate training, mentoring, and earning certifications while helping employers tap into a pool of top talent. Candidates are interviewed and matched with host companies and then complete on-the-job training with the company 4 days a week through the length of the fellowship. In addition to accessing a recruiting pipeline of military talent, the program can help in attracting additional veteran talent, increase new or existing diversity and inclusion programs, and help bridge the gap for service members transitioning to civilian careers.

Military Spouse Fellowship Program
The Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Fellowship Program is a cutting-edge initiative that connects military spouses to paid 6-week fellowships that provide professional training and hands-on experience. This engagement with local employers enables military spouses to quickly build their networks and showcase their skillsets. The program will assist in connecting qualified candidates to a host company. Those candidates will then complete their on-the-job training four days a week through the length of their fellowship. This no-cost program can help increase your talent pipeline, increase your company’s diversity, add highly skilled talent to your team, and can help to attract additional educated talent to your team.
