Workforce Development Spotlights: Toppan Photomasks Round Rock, Inc. and Saleen Performance Parts
Last month, two Round Rock employers continued to increase their workforce pipeline by utilizing local resources and partnerships. First, local Round Rock employer Toppan Photomasks Round Rock, Inc. officially earned its “We Hire Vets” designation on November 16, 2023, from Workforce Solutions, Texas Veterans Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) in recognition of the company’s efforts to hire and employ United States military veterans.
“We Hire Vets” is an employer recognition program developed by the TWC to recognize Texas employers for their commitment to hiring veterans. Employers eligible to be recognized by the program must have a workforce composed of at least 10 percent military veterans. For more information on the We Hire Vets program, please visit here.
On November 29th, Round Rock employer Saleen Performance Parts participated in a signing ceremony for their upcoming training partnership with Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) and Texas State University. This partnership provides a no-cost, cutting-edge training program in composite materials to students at Texas State’s Round Rock Campus and helps to address Saleen’s growing need for specialized workers. Students who complete the program will be offered apprenticeships and potential employment opportunities by Saleen. Texas State University developed and will deliver the curriculum and WSRCA will finance the program resulting in no out-of-pocket expenses for the initial class of students.
