Workforce Development – FAFSA/TASFA Trainings and Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunity Austin (OA), Austin Community College (ACC) and Trellis Company (Trellis) have partnered together to provide training opportunities for counselors, business leaders and community partners to provide assistance to students and families looking to afford college by signing up for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). Given significant changes to the 2024-2025 FAFSA application, set to be officially released by the Department of Education December 31, 2023, the trainings will cover key changes to prepare volunteers/staff to facilitate successful FAFSA filings across Central Texas school districts.
The next FAFSA/TASFA training will be virtual on the following dates:
- December 13th (11 AM – 1 PM)
- December 14th (11 AM – 1 PM)

OA, ACC and Trellis are also working with ISD partners to set FAFSA event dates for Q1 2024 ahead of the new Texas priority aid deadline in March 2024. Updates on the event schedule for 2024 will be provided in the next few weeks.
