The District Goes Vertical

The District Reaches a New Phase in Round Rock

A major milestone took shape in Round Rock this month as The District entered its next chapter: vertical construction is now underway. After earlier site and infrastructure work, this past month brought the first visible rise of what is expected to become one of the community’s most significant mixed-use developments. The start of vertical building on Origin at The District marks an important step forward for a project that has long represented the scale of growth ahead for Round Rock.

Situated near Interstate 35 and State Highway 45, The District is planned as a walkable destination that blends residential, retail, dining, office, and hospitality uses in one connected environment. The first vertical component, Origin, is planned as a seven-story residential community with 316 units and street-level retail, helping turn the vision for the site into something residents, businesses, and visitors can now see rising from the ground.

For Round Rock, this moment is about more than construction progress. It reflects continued private investment, confidence in the market, and the city’s ability to attract projects that create long-term value. At full buildout, The District is expected to span 65.5 acres and approach 4 million square feet of mixed-use space, underscoring its potential to become a major destination for business activity, community gathering, and future development.

As steel and concrete begin to define the skyline, The District is becoming more than a plan on paper. It is becoming a visible sign of Round Rock’s continued momentum and a strong example of the kind of thoughtful, high-impact investment shaping the city’s future.
