Small Business Spotlight: We Fly Delivery

In honor of Small Business Week, we will be celebrating and highlighting local small businesses and entrepreneurs in our area throughout the week. Today we are highlighting We Fly Delivery.  Ian Garza, owner of We Fly Delivery shares with us the motivation for the new business, hurdles they overcame, and other advice for entrepreneurs just starting out.

Describe the concept for your business and what motivated your idea.

With home deliveries on the rise, we wanted to get into an industry that isn’t going away in the next couple of years. We wanted to deliver goods to customers at home and at work, with a little twist.  Present something other delivery services don’t. We Fly Delivery does not just deliver food, but pet supplies and will soon offer groceries.  We strive to be a true delivery service.

What was one hurdle you had to overcome?

The biggest hurdle we have had to overcome, or better yet, still working on, is getting our name out there. We are competing with major corporations such as Door Dash, Uber, and GrubHub.  So advertising has been something we have had to work on. Being a small business with a limited budget, it’s hard getting your name/brand out there and getting people to give you a try.

To what do you attribute your success?

Well, I wouldn’t say we are completely successful, YET. But we are constantly reaching out to customers, offering discounts.  Getting our name out there, sponsoring events, working on getting people to give us a try rather than using the major corporations. We are targeting areas that the major corporations do not deliver to.

We have a lot of repeat customers, so people are liking our service.

What would be one piece of advice to an entrepreneur just starting out?

Don’t give up, business will be slow at the beginning. Get your name/brand out there and offer something unique. Treat each customer with the utmost respect, take care of their goods no matter how small.
