Round Rock Chamber Makes Recommendations On Local Option Sales and Use Tax
The Round Rock Chamber submitted comments to the House Committee on Ways & Means. The comments focus on the Committee’s Interim Charge #3: Study the role of the local option sales and use tax. The chamber strongly opposes changing local sales tax sourcing from being origin-based to destination-based.
Such a change will result in:
- Weakening Texas’ strong, longstanding, and nationally recognized business climate
- Undermining longstanding economic development agreements between municipalities and business partners
- Creating a significant burden for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
For these reasons, the Round Rock Chamber wholeheartedly supports maintaining an origin-based local sales tax sourcing structure.
