Round Rock Chamber Joins National Initiative to Address Inequality of Opportunity

Businesses and Community Leaders Unite to Develop Action Plan

The Round Rock Chamber announced today it is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on a national initiative to address inequality of opportunity.

The Round Rock Chamber will join the U.S. Chamber’s national townhall event on June 25 where business and community leaders will discuss concrete actions that can be taken by government and the private sector to address inequality through education, employment, entrepreneurship, and criminal justice reform. As a partner on this important initiative, the Round Rock Chamber will host local and industry dialogues to further the discussion in the coming months.

“We have added our voice to this initiative because we believe now is an opportunity for businesses to lead,” said Round Rock Chamber President and CEO Jason Ball. “Now is the right time to value diversity and inclusion, and to push back against the currents of institutionalized racism that persist. While there are innumerable facets of these systems that Chambers are not well equipped to address, there are many that are economic and business related where we can make a difference. This is where we will engage most effectively.”

“The moral case for greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace is indisputable, and there’s overwhelming evidence that greater diversity benefits the American economy, businesses, communities and employees,” said U.S. Chamber President Suzanne Clark. “We are proud to partner with the Round Rock Chamber on this initiative and to help develop a robust plan of action.”

The work of this national initiative will build on the work already undertaken by the Round Rock Chamber to support public policies that foster workforce recruitment efforts and oppose policies that undermine the business community’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
