Round Rock Chamber Hosts Czech Republic Delegation

On Monday, May 4, the Round Rock Chamber, in partnership with Round Rock ISD (RRISD) and FDI Business Diplomacy, was proud to host a teacher delegation from the Czech Republic Zlín-Region high schools.

The delegation was led by Dr. Jaroslav Knot, member of European Parliament, and consisted of seven to eight directors of high schools with a goal to learn how to design and run a sustainable AI education programs by adapting proven K–12 AI practices from Central Texas schools (public pilots, private innovators, university outreach and regional initiatives).

The delegation was also interested learning how Central Texas schools are introducing AI to students and supporting teachers — including curriculum design, professional development, classroom use cases, and policy frameworks.

The delegation was hosted at Cedar Ridge High School (CRHS) by Dr. Hafedh Azaiez, Dr. Autumn Powell, Donnie Bruton and Sheri Bonds. During their time in Round Rock, the delegation received an overview of RRISD and was able to tour Career and Technical Education programs of study at CRHS, including Health Science Theory and Practice, Culinary Arts and Construction Technology. The delegation also enjoyed a conversation regarding AI and the policies that RRISD is implementing in order to meet the needs of students and faculty in a rapidly changing technology environment.

Having a strong local K–12 public education system such as RRISD is foundational to our economic development initiatives. Together, strong schools and a strong economy reinforce one another, helping communities grow, compete, and thrive over time.

The Chamber would again like to thank RRISD for their continued partnership and would like to thank FDI Business Diplomacy and the delegation from the Czech Republic Zlín-Region for taking the time to visit Round Rock.
