Round Rock Chamber Board Unanimously Endorses Proposition A to Support Round Rock ISD’s Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE)

During the September 24^th regular Board meeting, the Round Rock Chamber Board of Directors voted and unanimously approved an endorsement of Proposition A to support the Round Rock Independent School District’s (RRISD) Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE).

A VATRE is a local school funding election that asks voters to approve the district’s request to increase the maintenance and operations tax rate. Proposition A is on the November 3 ballot, and early voting opens on October 19th.

There are several primary reasons Round Rock ISD has called for a VATRE:

• Provide a pay increase equal to 2% of the pay range midpoint to staff and teachers who were not part of the Teacher Retention Allotment.
• Increase district contribution to health care funds to $506 per month per employee.
• Offset inflationary costs while also increasing compensation.
• Address salary compression throughout the district in an effort to better retain and recruit top-quality teachers and staff in the region.
