RangerAce Construction Camp for Students

On Saturday, July 23, the RangerACE Construction Camp held their ribbon cutting for the new basketball court at Bluebonnet Elementary. RangerACE Construction Camp educates middle and high school students aged 13-17 about viable careers in construction trades. The camp hosted two sessions from July 18 to July 22 in partnership with Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD).

Over the two sessions, the campers built a state-of-the-art basketball court for the community at Bluebonnet Elementary. During the camp, the students learned the principles of estimating and project management, building design, surveying and site layout, geological testing, quarry operations, and working with heavy equipment.

The camp ended with a community-wide ribbon cutting and celebration on Saturday, July 23 at Bluebonnet Elementary School. Special guests included Superintendent of RRISD Dr. Hafedh Azaiez RRISD, RRISD Board of Trustees President Amber Feller, RRISD CTE Assistant Director Peggy Mica, Bluebonnet Elementary Principal Sam Soto, Round Rock Chamber President and CEO Jordan Robinson and Round Rock City, Ranger Excavating President Mark McKenzie, Covalent Foundation Vice President Jessica Ziehr, and Council Member Hilda Montgomery who dedicated the new court. Congratulations to the students who participated in the RangerACE Construction Camp!

The Round Rock Chamber was instrumental in bringing the RangerACE construction camp to the community in 2019 with the first project built at Voight Elementary.
