The Chamber’s annual Taste of Round Rock is always a fun event, but this year is different. It’s an important event symbolically.
Now that the vaccine is available, more than thirty sponsors and food provider businesses have come together to hold the 2021 Taste of Round Rock and we could not be more excited. Likewise, the restaurant participants are excited to get back to normal, and get back to work feeding our families.
One of the hardest hit industries in 2020 was food service and hospitality. These businesses were most directly impacted by shutdowns, social distancing, and other pandemic related measures. As we did with all Chamber programs in 2020, we pivoted towards a virtual event with the idea to drive traffic to restaurants for curbside and takeout services. While the effort was successful, it was not the same.
At the same time, it was also an important reminder about what this industry means for our community and its identity. Think of downtown Round Rock without the thriving bar and restaurant cluster that we enjoy today, your favorite Italian place, or one of the new restaurants that happens to be in your neighborhood.
Where we gather to eat, and the businesses that provide that dining experience are an essential part of how we define our community – and how we differentiate ourselves from other communities. They make us special. Please be a part of celebrating them this year.

I can’t wait to welcome you to Taste of Round Rock on August 10!
