Workforce Development

Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) is a community partnership providing no-cost recruitment and employment services to businesses and job seekers in the Rural Capital Area of Texas. WSRCA maintains a team of dedicated Business Services Specialists to assist employers at every stage of their workforce needs including interviewing and hiring, wage and labor market information and job postings.

The Texas Workforce Commission is the state agency that is responsible for overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers in Texas.

The Skills Development Fund (SDF) is a job training and upskilling program. SDF grants provide site-specific, customized training opportunities for Texas businesses.

Grants are awarded directly to a public community or technical college, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), community-based organizations in partnership with one of these entities, or a local Workforce Development Board. Average training grants are approximately $2,000 per trainee and is administered by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Through Work in Texas, employers can post jobs, review résumés, recruit employees, view employment programs and learn about available tax credits and hiring incentives.

Employers recognize the skills and leadership military service brings to the workplace. The DOD SkillBridge program connects Service members with industry partners for real-world job experiences during the last 180 days of their service.

Hiring Our Heroes connects the military community—service members, military spouses, and veterans—with businesses for on-the-job-training. The Texas Veterans Commission assists employers by serving as the link between companies and qualified Texas veterans.

Jail to Jobs provides youthful offenders a social and mentor program. Following graduation from the program, the participants have learned new skills for employment and gain a new support system.

The Texas Internship Challenge is a partnership between the Texas Workforce Commission and other state agencies to facilitate paid internships leading to marketable skills.

Registered Apprenticeship programs enable employers to develop and train their future workforce while offering career seekers affordable paths to secure quality, high-paying jobs. Information on available apprenticeships can be found from TWC and WSRCA. Additionally, institutions such as ACC’s Texas is IT (TXIT) Apprenticeship Program offers opportunities to increase apprenticeship opportunities in certain industries. Through their Goodwill Career Centers, Goodwill offers career advancement training, educational opportunities and job placement support to help you compete in high-demand job markets.
