Ambassador Spotlight: Mary Dawson

The Round Rock Chamber Ambassador program serves as a welcoming committee by offering the hand of friendship to chamber investors. They help promote the chamber and welcome new investors. This month’s Ambassador Spotlight is on Mary Dawson with La Quinta Round Rock North.

Community Engagement is in Mary’s DNA.  “Being around people who care about our community always enhances my enjoyment of life and benefits my family and the business I work for”.  Mary has been a Round Rock Chamber Ambassador since April.  “I have been an ambassador in other Chambers for many years, and I feel have found a home with this amazing group of Round Rock Chamber ambassadors.  Their passion for this community is infectious!”

Mary grew up in Houston and learned about community service from my parents.  Mary’s mom volunteered with the PTA and coached girls softball, and her dad coached little league and they taught her responsibility to our community.  Her list of volunteer organizations over the years greatly eclipses the number of jobs she has held.  Her degree is in elementary education.  Sales is her career, and she used her love of teaching to help clients understand what they need and how my hotels can provide that.  Her love for learning and mentoring started young and continues. She has lots more time for reading now that her children are grown.

As the director of sales for four La Quinta hotels, Mary stays busy building new client relationships and fostering a partnership with her staff.  “We act as a team to bring great service and accommodations to the Round Rock and Austin area.”  La Quinta opened their first hotel in 1968 in San Antonio.  La Quinta, now owned by Wyndham, stands out in a large field of hotel brands as a mid-priced hotel with great service.
