The highly anticipated coastal cooking concept from the team behind Jack Allen’s Kitchen has opened its doors this month to a warm Round Rock welcome.
Salt Traders Coastal Cooking opened Sept. 5 and held an official ribbon cutting celebration Thursday with the staff’s family and friends, city leaders, representatives of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce and the community. The new restaurant had been in the works for the last two years, said chef and co-owner Jack Gilmore.
Gilmore and co-owner Tom Kamm — also co-owners of Jack Allen’s Kitchen restaurants — said they took a hard look at where they would build a new restaurant and what food it would serve.
“In the last year, Tom and I traveled from the East Coast to West Coast, the Gulf Coast to Mexico, and just saw what people were doing out there, and meeting fishermen and oystermen and people like that,” Gilmore said. “It got real six months ago when we put a hammer in the wall and started to build this thing.”
