Round Rock Ranks as Number One City in Texas- Biggest Bang for Your Buck


Round Rock tops SaveOnEnergy.com’s list of the top 10 cities in Texas to get the biggest bang for your buck.  Surveying every city in Texas with a population that exceeds 75,000 residents, SaveOnEnergy.com uses a combination of five factors. 

Factors include unemployment rates, household income, housing costs, utility bills and crime rates to rank cities.  In the article, Round Rock is referred to as having, “small city charm with big city access” for a combination of reasons.  

 Round Rock tops the list for having not only the lowest unemployment rates, housing costs and utility bills, but also having a higher household income than most of the United States.  When compared to the national average unemployment rate of 7%, Round Rock’s unemployment rate is only at 4.7%.  Compared to the national median household income of $53,056, Round Rock has a median household income of 69,998, while having an average house listing price that is $15,280 less than the state average and $337,361 less than the average listing in Austin, Texas.   Coupling that with a significantly lower crime rate than every other city on the list, Round Rock receives the top spot.
