Round Rock Chamber Welcomes RangerACE Construction Camp

The Round Rock Chamber welcomes RangerAce Construction Camp to Round Rock. RangerACE Construction Camp educates middle schoolers about viable careers in construction trades and will be hosting two week-long summer camps for local-area middle school students in July in partnership with Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD).

The campers will build a junior basketball court at Voight Elementary School during the program. By the end of the camp, students will have a firm grasp of the principles of estimating and project management, building design, surveying and site layout, geological testing, quarry operations, and working with heavy equipment.

The camp will end with a community-wide ribbon cutting and celebration on Saturday, July 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Voight Elementary School, located at 201 Cushing Drive in Round Rock. There will be food, prizes, guest speakers, and a celebrity basketball game. Everyone is invited to attend this special event.

Special guests include Dr. Danny Presley RRISD Senior Chief of Schools and Innovation, Voigt Elementary Principal, Cheryl Hester, and Mayor Craig Morgan, who will dedicate the new court with a permanent plaque. The Celebrity Basketball game will feature several local celebrities and sports figures squaring off against the RangerACE campers.

Legendary NBA hall-of-famer, George “Iceman” Gervin will join in on the exhibition game to give a strong kick-off to the new basketball court. Also, the San Antonio Spurs official mascot, The Coyote, and the Austin Spurs official mascot, Da Bull, will both be on the sidelines to help celebrate the construction of the new court by RangerACE campers.
