Round Rock Chamber Celebrates First Anniversary of 1 Million Cups Round Rock

Successful program infuses energy into growing entrepreneurial ecosystem

ROUND ROCK, Texas – On October 3, 2018, the Round Rock Chamber will host the first anniversary celebration of 1 Million Cups (1MC) Round Rock. 1MC is a free national program that strives to not only educate, but engage and connect entrepreneurs with their communities. Founded by the Kauffman Foundation in 2012, 1MC fulfills the need to foster a more connected network of entrepreneurs, which is one of the chamber’s recommendations in its REV UP Round Rock community entrepreneurship strategy.

The anniversary celebration begins at 9:00 a.m. at Round Rock City Hall in the council chambers located at 221 East Main Street. Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan will kick-off the event with a presentation of a special proclamation for 1MC Round Rock followed by a keynote address by Alan Mayer, Senior Vice President at Dell Technologies.

“We would like to thank Round Rock and surrounding communities for their ongoing support during our first year. 1MC Round Rock is thriving with quality presentations, meaningful guidance from the audience, and great attendance,” said Amy Mizcles, the chamber’s vice president of community enhancement. “As we head into our second year, we look forward to celebrating our accomplishments and casting a stronger vision for our growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

1MC Round Rock focuses on developing a robust entrepreneurial network by having one local, early-stage enterprise present their business, along with any challenges they are experiencing, to a group of community members who can then ask questions, provide advice, and offer support. Ultimately, the goal is to create relationships that foster peer-to-peer interaction and mentoring.

1MC Round Rock would not be possible without the ongoing support of community sponsors and partners including City of Round Rock, No Time for Social, Hyatt Place Austin/Round Rock, Hilton Garden Inn Austin/Round Rock, Corner Bakery, and the program’s volunteer organizers
