The Round Rock Chamber Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for motivated, enthusiastic, and articulate business people to represent the chamber at functions and events across the community. This group plays a critical role in gathering investor feedback and relaying that information to chamber staff. Ambassadors help support the chamber’s mission by ensuring that new investors are welcomed to the chamber family properly and they play an important role in ribbon cutting events.
One of the chamber’s long-time Ambassadors, is Jay Weber, owner of MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream & Treatery. Jay has served as a Round Rock Chamber Ambassador for seven years.
After retiring from a twenty-five year career in corporate finance, Jay became an “ice cream magnate” in 2000, when he and his wife, Lora, started up Drummer Boy Ice Cream as a hobby. They travel for fun in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi to sell homemade ice cream at living history events. Jay and Lora still take Drummer Boy Ice Cream on the road about fifteen weekends every year and have developed quite a following of enthusiastic fans.
This love of ice cream led Jay to purchase MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream & Treatery in Round Rock in 2005. With Jay’s accounting and managerial background, the business thrives in a tough market. Deeply involved in the local business community, MaggieMoo’s was honored as the Round Rock Chamber’s Small Business of the Year in 2012.
Jay loves traveling, teaching scuba diving, playing drums, restoring classic Jaguars – and ice cream! MaggieMoo’s provides a great venue for interacting with the Round Rock community and supporting nonprofit fundraising. He enjoys promoting Round Rock and enthusiastically serves as an Ambassador to help other organizations celebrate and grow.
