Manager of Events

The Round Rock Chamber has undergone a true evolution. With a new strategic plan, a refocused mission, and an aggressive business plan, we are reinforcing our position as the community’s economic-generation leader.  By focusing on meaningful and measurable results in support of our approximately 1,000 investors, we are ensuring that Round Rock is the preeminent business community in all of Texas.

In order to accomplish our goals, we must have a proactive self-starter to play a key role in developing and directing the events for the Round Rock Chamber. The position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Operations.

Key duties include:

  • directing all events with the chamber by determining goals and ensuring each event executes a strategic experience aligned with the eight pillars of economic generation
  • managing all stages of each event: identifying venues, sponsorship needs, speakers, catering, and follow up with new ideas to make the next event better
  • maintaining a budget for each event
  • developing an annual calendar of signature and repeating events (Annual Awards Banquet, Taste of Round Rock, Business Forum & Expo, Business After Hours, Power Lunch, Spark, 1 Million Cups Round Rock, Leadership Graduation, and Breakfast Club)
  • lead and schedule ribbon cuttings
  • nurturing relationships with catering investors and provide them with opportunities to cater chamber events
  • coordinating with Vice President of Community Enhancement to provide catering recommendations and meeting space recommendations as needed for Leadership programs
  • supporting the Director of Business Attraction to manage all venue and catering details for Momentum and other economic development events
  • updating the WebLink calendar of events by uploading text and images to each event
  • recruiting and notify staff volunteers for events as necessary
  • partnering with Vice President of Marketing in the design of marketing materials and communication schedules for signature and networking events
  • maintain a social media presence for chamber events
  • partner with Investor Development Manager to support Ambassadors
  • partner with Investor Development Manager on the sale of booths for Business Expo and Taste of Round Rock

The perfect person for this job has:

  • a bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing, or other related field; work experience and professional certifications may be considered in lieu of education requirements
  • two or more years of related experience with a demonstrated and quantifiable record of events
  • strong oral communications, persuasion, and sales skills
  • capability to multitask
  • experience in logistics and incredible organization skills
  • computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn to use WebLink and other programs
  • knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is preferred
  • ability to design agendas and lead meetings, both internal and external to the organization
  • excellent communication skills
  • resourcefulness to handle inquiries through effective face-to-face, telephone, and/or email communication
  • aptitude to deal personably and positively with individuals, including staff, prospects, investors, and the general public
  • ability to pursue various projects simultaneously to completion
  • must work cooperatively with other employees and be a team player
  • a valid driver’s license
