Leadership Round Rock

The Mission of Leadership Round Rock is to develop leadership skills in individuals, and to promote awareness of issues and opportunities which impact the City of Round Rock. The primary goal of the Leadership Round Rock program is to help people view themselves as resources for addressing important community needs.

History
Provide an understanding of the history of the Round Rock area

Infrastructure
Expose students to key business, governmental, educational, and community institutions

Issues
Explore important challenges and issues to be addressed by our community

Involvement
Promote the importance of civic involvement and identify ways to contribute to the community

Support
Support the goals of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce Continuity Sustain the involvement of Leadership Round Rock graduates in improving this program and in connecting with our community

Eligibility & Selection 
Any adult may apply. Leadership Round Rock is non-discriminatory in regard to race, color, sex, age, religion, veteran status, disability, or political affiliation. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to submit nominations, and to provide scholarships to employees whom they believe have community leadership potential.  Class size is limited. The Leadership Round Rock Planning Board reviews all applications and notifies recipients of acceptance.

Program Requirements
Attendance and active participation in nine (9) full-day sessions that are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month, from September through May 

  • Graduation ceremony is held in May
  • Participation in a class community service project (20 hours)
  • Attendance at two of the following the City Council, ISD, Chamber, P&Z
  • Attendance and participation in all program activities is expected and a condition of graduation

Expectations
Leadership Round Rock graduates are expected to pursue and assume leadership roles in the community which promote the vitality and quality of life in Round Rock. Graduates are encouraged to join Leadership Round Rock’s Alumni Group, and to attend and participate in Leadership Round Rock Planning Board meetings.

Cost
Tuition is $500 and must be paid by the first class session unless arrangements have been made and approved by the Planning Board. There will be no refunds after the class begins. A limited number of scholarships may be available to individuals who agree to additional community service hours as partial payment.
